Note 1Grand Drogman of the Sublime Porte (1785-88 and 1794-95). Voivode of Moldavia (1795-99). Assassinated by stabbing or beheading by the Turks. Presumably he is the father of Charles Callimachi (d. 1821)?
Note 2Rémy Benoit believes he had another son Ioannis who was Grand Drogoman and hanged at Caesaria on 15 Oct 1821.
Note 3Alexander Lappas says the mother of his children was Eleni (Scarlatos) Ghika, but the Ghika family tree records his wife as Eleni’s half-sister Roxandra.
Note 4‘Prince of Moldavia before the turn of the century. ‘ Succeeded, on his deposition, by his son-in-law Ypsilantis.
