NameZannis (Zorzis) Calvocoressi, 5C7R
Birth1776, Chios, Greece/Hellenes
Death1822, Chios, Greece/Hellenes
MemoArgenti says 1826 in Constantinople. His descendants say he was killed by the Turks on Chios in 1822.
Note 1Argenti’s information provokes problems concerning the dates of Ioannis’s marriages and his children’s births...
Note 2According to his son Matthew in ca. 1890, recorded by Matthew’s grandson Pantias (John) Calvocoressi some 60 years later, Zannis was killed by the Turks in 1822 on Chios, Matthew being virtually an eye-witness.
Note 3David Calvocoressi says that Zannis’ grandson Nicolas signed a document dated Constantinople 27 Sep 1900 stating that “Zannis Calvocoressi was killed by the Turks leaving children: Nicolas, Pandely, Dimitri, Mavroudi, Matthew, George and Zambelou”.
Note 4David Calvocoressi says that either Pantias (John) Calvocoressi or Nicolas (Zannis) Calvocoressi - unclear which - believed the children of Zannis (Zorzis) Calvocoressi’s second wife were Mavroudi, Matthew, George and Zambelou.
