Captain Ian Garrow, DSO

Correspondence (1941-43) with War Office: MI9, SO7, Nancy Fiocca, etc

A remarkable bundle of top secret British MI9/SO7 correspondence between World War ll War Office chiefs and the family of one of Britain's most extraordinary agents was rediscovered in 1983/84. The papers, rescued from a bonfire, relate to the famous escape line co-founded by Capt. Ian Garrow, DSO, and record the meticulous concern shown by War Office chiefs for the family of one of their most important agents operating behind enemy lines. The correspondence was passed in 1984 to Christopher Long and is reproduced here in 'thumbnail' form merely as a research guide.
