OccupationGovernor of the province of Amari, Crete, 1866-69 during the insurrection. Organised supplies for the troops. Aged 70 he was appointed military chief.
Note 1Took part in numerous battles against the Turks and was injured in the leg. Renowned for his courage and compassion towards Turkish prisoners who he liberated after the conflicts. Gave his rifle to his son George to finish the liberation of Crete.
Note 2Appointed standard-bearer of the regiment led by Jean Moschovitis (chief of Amari province). After being injured he then fought at Malaxa, Rethymno, Messara, Sitia, etc.
