Note 2In 2007 Lucien Renoir produced his death certificate showing that he died in Cannes on 14 Mar 1876 while staying at the Villa du Rocher.
Note 3Luca Schilizzi wrote, in memory of his brother John: "The Heaven blessed him with the pure affection of the angelic girl Fanny Schilizzi, affection that he repaid with the impetus of his great heart"
Note 4Antonio Riccio says John Schilizzi (d. 1876, Cannes) left funds in his Will for the founding of a hospital on the island of Chios dedicated to a Fanny Schilizzi who may have been his fiancée. This was probably Fanny Schilizzi (1854-1926], his 1st cousin.
