Note 1Knight of the Order of The Saviour. Land owner. Founding director of Ralli Brothers, Calcutta, India, in 1851, with John (Eustratius) Ralli.
Note 2According to Dominie Vlasto they were among the most prosperous of the Liverpool Greek families and lived at Hellas House though it had only one bathroom for the family and none for at least 12 domestic staff.
Note 3Dominie adds that such domestic arangements were typical of similar huge houses until well into the 1920s and 1930s. Servants in those days brought hot water and baths to the bed-rooms and dressing-rooms.
Note 4The King of Greece conferred the Silver Cross of the Order of the Saviour on two leading Greek citizens of Liverpool in recognition of their services in raising a fund for the relief of the sufferers by the earthquakes at Zante, Greece: ...
