MemoAccording to death certificate and ‘The Times’ (London) 6 Aug 1855. Catsiyannis says the tomb records his death in 1856. Argenti says 3 Jul 1855.

Note 1(Vlachou) An Emmanuel Rodocanachi with brother Stephanos/Etienne settled in Marseilles after the massacres on Chios. A Pandia Rodocanachi stayed in Livorno (see: 'Grecs et Philhellenes A Marseille' by Pierre Echinard (Institue Historique de Provence).

Note 2Catsiyannis says he fled Chios for Italy and France, settling finally in Marseilles. He appears to have traded with his brother Pandia in Livorno. He has a handsome tomb at the Saint-Pierre cemtery in Marseilles.

Note 3According to the death notice of his grandson Emmanuel Michel Rodocanachi, this Emmanuel Rodocanachi founded the bank ‘Rodocanachi Sons & Co’. A company of this name, founded in 1830, is recorded as failing in Nov 1929.

Note 2The 1856 Marseille census says that Alexandra was at 20 Allées des Capucines. The property-owner was her daughter Franga, a widow of 55, living with her daughter Marie and Theodore Sechiari, a merchant aged 30 [Maria's husband] and their three children...

Note 3... Arriero, 5 [Arghyro], Fanny, 3, and Paraskeva, 2 months plus Franga’s daughter-in-law Marie Ralli (m. Pierre Rodocanachi, not in the Census) and four domestic servants.
