Note 1His photo portrait by Bassano in 1921 is now at the National Portrait Gallery, London. ‘Proud of being a cockney’. Chairman of the City Offices Company Ltd for over 37 years.
Note 2In 1897 he built the large country house called ‘Chios’ near Worthing in Sussex which was pulled down after his death. Left £92,482 (and £500 to his secretary George Wakeling).
Note 3A letter from Zorzis Michalinos to church-warden Emmanuel Michael Rodocanachi, dated 30 Oct 1902, was kept in the archives because it was the first to be written on a typewriter.
Note 4He was a director of Rodocanachi Sons & Co, founded in 1830, in partnership with Emmanuel Peter Rodocanachi until 1911, then with Pandely John Agelasto, George Pandely Sechiari and from 1921 his son John Emmanuel Rodocanachi. He and his son left in 1926. The company went bankrupt in Nov 1929.

Note 5According to Martin Hopkinson in 2013, a ‘Chiote library’ in Worthing (present whereabouts unknown) may have included C19th portraits of Chiots. Presumably library was linked to the Rodocanachi family living in Worthing.
