Note 2Nicki Heath in 2009 said he was a Lieutenant retired on half pay. Dave Davenport believes the ‘Captain was a courtesy title: “He is listed as Lt. in 1829 and became chief officer in the coast guard in 1836 and retired on pension in 1850”.
