Note 1The marriage announcement in the Pall Mall Gazette (London), 19 Feb 1879 refers to him as ‘of Bombay’.
Note 2He had the unfortunate job of investigating and finding two of his Fachiri 1st cousins guilty of illegal speculation while employed by Ralli Brothers (New York). They and Antonio Z. Vouro/Vouros were sacked on 10th Feb 1880.
Note 3He moved to the USA around 1879 (but was never naturalised) until he died. Described in 1897 as “one of the wealthiest Greek merchants in this country” (i.e. the in the USA).

Note 2She is almost certainly the ‘Etta Fachiri’ who appears in a portrait provided by C. Shelton who says that Etta kept house in London for Jelly and Adela d’Aranyi (the latter being her daughter-in-law).
Note 3In March 1897 she had $5,000 worth of jewellery stolen while she was staying at the Buckingham Hotel in New York.
