Note 2On the death of his father fled to safety at Nafplion/Nauplion with his mother and two brothers. Taught by Gennadius at his newly established school. In turn he went to Syros to become a professor/teacher and author of numerous text books.

Note 3The Minister of Educatation notes that in 1858 King Othon l personally sent Ioannis Vlasto congratulations for his work in education. Awarded the ‘Aristion’ medal on 3 Sep 1943 by the Ministry of the Interior, Athens.
