Note 2At the 1917 Revolution he joined the White Army and on the termination of the Civil War he settled in Paris.
Note 3In 1939, on the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the French Army, was taken prisoner by the Germans but liberated after the Franco-German Armistice because of ill-health.
