Note 1Like Philip Argenti, we are very sorry that no better record exists of the Caralli family. Constantine was almost certainly a descendant of the great Byzantine family, the Karalis/Caralli of Constantinople.

Note 2Sadly the relationships between the small Caralli family of Chios is not known. In some cases we have ‘interpreted’ information from Argenti’s ‘Libro d’Oro’ (vol. l) to suggest a solution.

Note 3Presumably Ioannis Caralli is the son of Constantine & a Scanavi wife who, according to Argenti had a son Michael in the mid-1700s. The Caralli family owned a large palazzo in the Chios ‘Kampos’ which is now the Perivoli hotel.
