Note 1Escaped the 1822 Chios Massacres with his mother and brothers after hiding for 11 days. The family went to Malta while he went on to the USA in 1823 studying at Yale, returning to Malta in 1830.
Note 2He lived in Malta for four years (1830-34), Syros (1834-49), Constantinople (1849-52) then Marseille and back to Constantinople.
Note 3From 1877 he lived with his married daughter Mimina in Athens. Yale says he died 12 Dec 1896.
