MemoAt the time of her marriage to Thomas Drake.
OriginBrought up at Lammas (Hautbois/Hautboys), Norfolk
Note 1Her parents appear to have died when she was a child. Apparently brought up by an aunt ‘Drake’ (presumably Mary Long m. Drake) and then married Thomas Drake, her first cousin. She appears in a daguerreotype photograph.
Note 2Described on her daughter Lucy’s birth record as “Elizabeth Chapman Drake Wood Ransome”.
Note 3Since she was apparently brought up by her aunt and married her first cousin, we assume that her mother Elizabeth Drake was the sister of Thomas Drake (?-1828).
Note 4The 1861 census has her at Dillington Hall, landed proprietor, with her son William, daughter Laura and visitors Mary Sands, Robert Long, her daughter Emily now Kingsford and three servants (two in the house and a groom).
