Note 1His Will of 6 Jan 1747, (almost five pages) shows he had property in both London and the ‘country’. He appears to have been a rich silk-weaver and employer. He set up complicated trusts for his surviving children (several others appear to have died).
Note 2Louis or Lewis. Also spelt ‘de Zormeaux’. Almost certainly a Huguenot (Protestant refugee) from France. Elisabeth Burton says he was a weaver and lived in Norton Folgate near Spitalfields, London.
Note 3Huguenot Society Publication v. 27 Lists Louis Desormeaux in 1709 on the Oath Roll for Naturalization. Weavers Court Books 1610-1730 entry 27 Aug 1711 - Mr Lewis Desormeaux from Holland is adnmitted as a foreign master.
