Note 1Awarded the Order of the Orange of Nassau. She appears in an Ionides family photograph (in CAL’s collection) as a baby on her mother’s lap and separately aged about 4, dressed outrageously.
Note 2She was a close friend of Helen Vlasto (née Zarifi) and her children and also of the daughter of Baroness Agnes de Stoeckl, an Anglo-Russian lady with court connections ca. 1900-1950.
Note 3Known in English circles as Mary. She was married from Baroness de Stoeckl’s daughter’s house in Chester Terrace, Regent’s Park, London, in 1919 (perhaps because her father/parents were already dead?).
