Note 1Or Mary. Croix de Guerre avec Palmes (1915). Palmes-en-Or-du Service de Santé. Senior (major) nursing officer in the Société de Secours aux Blessés Militaires. She worked in Epirus, Greece, during the Balkan Wars (1912-1913) with the French Red Cross.
Note 2In WWl (1914-1918) she was first with the 7è Armée (French) and then the Armée du Nord at Furnes Hospital. Finally she worked with the mobile operating unit of Professor Duval.
Note 3At the end of the war she became Président Directrice de la Société de Secours aux Blessés Militaires at Montdidier.
Note 4In Nov 1915 she was in charge of the “Mlles d’Haussonville, Murat, Wasender, Ansart, [Fanny] Kessisoglu”, all cited for heroism.
Note 5Her personal archives were acquired by her valet, Georges Lecomte, whose descendants gave them to ‘Mémoires de la Somme, Archives’ in 2018.
