Note 1Died before succeeding 10th Earl of Hardwicke (1733) & Viscount Royston (1754). Nearly burnt to death in a nursery fire at his Park Street, London, home aged nine (see press reports).
Note 2In 1939 he is recorded as an invalid living with his widowed grandmother, Mary, in the charge of a ‘mental governess’, Edith Bryant (plus a chauffeur-mechanic and a housekeeper). Was he affected by the fire?
