Note 1His stories about the Massacres of Chios inspired Dimitrios Vikelas to write the book ‘Loukis Laras’ or ‘Loukis the Mite’ - a pseudonym for Luke Ziffo. A driving force in London Greek community affairs, he was a trustee of the Helllenic College.
Note 2If the story of Loukis Lara is to be belived, he returned to Chios soon after the massacres in 1822 and paid to the Turks a ransom for the liberty of Despina Capari whom he then married.
