Note 1She devoted her working life to the WRNS but suffered from cancer for a long period before and after her retirement.
Note 2Joined the WRNS in January 1941 and commissioned in 1943. Trained as a cypher officer she served in the Persian Gulf and then completed the signal course and served in Egypt.
Note 3After WWll, as a First Officer she was senior WRNS officer in the Mediterranean and served on the staff of Admiral Commanding Reserves. In May 1963 she became Senior WRNS Officer Plymouth Command, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Note 4In 1966 she became Chief Officer Recruiting and then served on the staff of Director General Naval Manpower and in 1970 became Senior WRNS Officer Naval Command.
Note 5In November 1972 she became Superintendent whilst serving as Deputy Director WRNS, ending her career as Command WRNS Officer, Naval Home Command.
