Note 1Demogeront of Chios 1848, 1852 and 1864. From his 2nd marriage he had 16 children. Very pious. Yearned to die on Good Friday and did so.
Note 2Was he the Choremi who acquired the Vlasto estate in the centre of Chios, comprising of the house, chapel, orchards, gardens, etc – still largely in its original condition in 1999?
Note 3In 1822, on Chios, he and his first wife fled towards the monastery of St Minas. After her capture he hid in tombs with abandoned children for several days or weeks and was white-haired by the age of thirty.
Note 4He continued to live on Chios after the 1822 massacres and wore the “demogeront’s costume”. He had houses at Mesa Ki (the interior) and Kato Ki (on the coast).
