Note 1Eustratius Argenti was strangled by the Turks 24 June 1798 in Belgrade with an Antonios Coronios, Rhinos Pheraios, plus five others. They had attempted a pan-Balkan revolution against the Ottoman state, largely funded by Argenti.
Note 2He moved to Vienna in 1794 where his company was Argent Associates, working principally with his family’s firm in Smyrna.
