Note 1(Araba) A founder of the Greek Orthodox Cemetery at West Norwood along with Eustracio Ralli, Antonio Ralli and Alexander Constantine Ionides. Donated a mosaic to decorate the conch of the main apse of St Sophia's church in Bayswater, London.

Note 2His mausoleum at West Norwood Cemetery was listed by English Heritage in 1981. He, along with Alexander Vlasto and the Ralli Brothers funded an essay "Interpretation of the New Testament, Vol. ll" by Nicholaos M. Damalas, published Athens 1892.

Note 3His family is said to have been the richest Chiot family of the time. A portrait of him is in the Koraïs collection in Chios. He and his brother Zannis were educated at the Academy of Chios.

Note 4Captured by the Turks in 1822, he was kept on board Admiral Karoli Pasha’s ship for 11 months. His family paid his ranson of 500 drachma through the Russian embassy in Constantinople. He then begain a business in Livorno.
