Note 1(Chaviara-Axeskoufotos) Ran the Ralli business in Constantinople. His portrait hangs in the Koraïs Library, Chios. Appears in the death-bed scene of Marouko Argenti (née Sechiari) (1767-1849) in the Koraïs Library, Chios.
Note 2Honoured in Odessa in 1853 and inscribed as guild member in 1839. In 1858 he gave an inscribed Gospelbook cover to St Sophia Church, London, apparently made in Russia.
Note 3Shortly before 1852 he settled in London. Well known for his humanism, kindness and fairness in his business and private life.

Note 1Her portrait hangs in the Koraïs Library, Chios. She is also known as Maria Argenti (of Marseilles). Her childrens’ miniature portraits were painted by Sir William Ross (1794-1869).
Note 2She had vivid memories of fleeing barefoot and naked as a child from the massaces on Chios and of being on a mountain top with a great many others.
