Note 1Lieutenant in the lst and 6th Battalion The Dorsetshire Regt. (Mentioned in Despatches). He had previously been a distinguished soldier in the Greek forces in the Balkan wars in 1912.
Note 2Strangely, he was ordered bankrupt on 21 Oct 1914 as a result of ‘unjustifiable extravagance in living’. This order was discharged on 21 Oct 1916. It seems possible that his conduct on the Western Front persuaded members of his family that he had been...
